On Saturday, October 16, at 8pm, the Wolfville based duet Andy and Ariana will celebrate the release of their 8th recording, Seeking Commotion, with a concert at the Al Whittle Theatre (450 Main St. Wolfville). Marking a departure from their previous live recordings, this new disc is studio produced, featuring a four piece band and a host of well respected guest musicians.
The material on this CD includes 10 new original A&A songs in the English language, plus 1 new Persian song written by Amin Nasr (Ariana's father).
The show will feature all of these plus several old favourites including Mara Manzoor and songs written by Adam Bazinet and Chris Robison.
Both, on CD and at the Whittle show, Andy and Ariana are supported by the t@b Groove Co-op, which includes Adam Bazinet on drums and Chris Robison on bass. The CD release concert promises to be a grand extravaganza with multiple percussionists, a vocal backup ensemble and belly dancing. Additional performers include: Gerry Rogers, Heather Cameron, Heather Kelday, Mike Milne, Micah O'Connell, Jesse Potter, Meagan Osburn, Don Osburn, Laura MacDonald, and belly dancing by Oriana.
Tickets are $12 in advance and available at the Rolled Oat Cafe and Box of Delights Bookshop in Wolfville or online from Ticket Pro.
